'Dublin Port Print'

Just beyond East Wall Road is a different world. It stretches along the lower reaches of the Liffey buzzing with movement, colour and sound, a dynamic, crowded space full of the hints of other places. Through it we are brought much of the necessary stuff of our everyday lives and yet most of us know little about how it really works.

To explore and celebrate this terrain Graphic Studio Dublin invited over eighty of their members and associate members to participate in a competition held by Dublin Port Company. Eighteen artists were selected to participate in this exhibition for which, a prize fund of €5,000 sponsored from Dublin Port Company was shared by three artists. The first prize was awarded to Kelvin Mann, "Red Light House", Etching. Second prizes were awarded to James McCreary "The Alexandra Basin Pigeon" Mezzotint & Aquatint and Philip Murphy "Singapore Sling" Woodcut.

Leading printmakers such as Carmel Benson, Brian Lalor, Stephen Lawlor, James McCreary and Gwen O'Dowd alongside graduate award winner Niamh Flanagan are taking part in this exciting exhibition at Graphic Studio Gallery, Temple Bar on 3rd May 2007.
