Merijean Morrissey

Merijean Morrissey, Professor of Visual Arts in Brock University, Toronto. Morrissey specialises in Printmaking, especially etching and traditional Japanese woodblock (Mokuhanga); painting and installation art; feminist methodologies and Postmodern theory. She joined the Graphic Studio Dublin as a member in 2010.

From 1968 to 1971, Morrissey attended University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Graduate student in the MFA Painting and Printmaking Program with Dennis Rowan and Eugene Tellez (not completed due to emigration to Canada). Before that from 1967 to 1968, Brooklyn Museum, New York, with Reuben Tam Max Beckmann Post Graduate Fellowship. 1962 to 1967, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with Jerry Savage and Bill Briggs, BFA in Painting (Dean's Honors List). 1964 to 1965 Académie de la Grande Chaumiere, Paris, with Yves Brayer. 1964, Chicago Art Institute. 1960 to 1962, Illinois Institute of Technology, Institute of Design, Chicago (Declined Moholy-Nagy Scholarship, 1961).

2008 - Rosalind (Hyman) Blauer Award : Awarded to a member of the Brock community engaged in activities, which illuminate research and bring attention to, or improve the position of women in contemporary society.
