Workshop
Graphic Studio Dublin, established in 1961, is the largest and oldest
fine-art print studio in Ireland. It is supported by the Arts Council
of Ireland. The Graphic Studio facilitates etching, lithography,
woodblock and carborundum printing for upwards of fifty members
annually. An additional fifteen to twenty Visiting Artists are invited
to the studio each year to make a series of prints with the assistance
of a skilled technician. Since the inception of the programme in 1980
the list of established and emerging Irish and international artists
who have worked at the studio reads as an impressive survey of Irish
art. Artists participating in the recent 2004/2005 programme include
Brian Bourke, Mike Fitzharris, Brian Gormley, Christopher Le Brun, Paddy Lennon,
Nick Miller and Mick O'Dea.
The Graphic Studio fosters creative project ideas and actively
supports artist-led projects from the studio. Past successes have
involved the Graphic Studio's collaboration with national cultural
institutions, Art into Art at the National Gallery of Ireland in 1998,
Holy Show at the Chester Beatty Library in 2002 and The Garden of
Earthly Delights programmed at the Chester Beatty Library for 2005.
Tours of the studio by interested groups and third parties are
facilitated by prior appointment with the studio administrator.
