Brian Lalor

I have identified a group of otherwise unrelated medieval artefacts from the antiquities collections of the National Museum of Ireland, ecclesiastical, military and technological, and re-united them with their ancestral landscape, not their actual find places, but the broader region of County Tipperary, from which they all came. The environs of the Rock of Cashel are one of Ireland's most sacred landscapes. Such regions symbolize and encapsulate some aspect of the peoples' past by the power of the historic remains and their integration with the land. Today these landscapes are under constant threat. By contrast, the fragility of their orphaned museum artefacts may prove more durable.
