Alison Pilkington b. 1967

Born in Sligo, she graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art Painting and Printmaking from Sligo RTC in 1989 and with a BA Hons in Fine Art Painting from National College Art & Design in 1990. She completed an MA in Film and TV studies in Dublin City University in 1994, and is currently a PhD student at NCAD in Painting.

She has worked in a broad range of printed techniques. The areas of printmaking that she specialises in are relief printmaking and lithography. In particular she has concentrated on an etched lino technique to produce graphic work that echoes the strong painterly qualities that she has become known for.

She has received arts council travel and publication awards and project bursaries. She was awarded a Gregory Peck Scholarship in 1996. She is co-editor of The Fold with fellow artist Cora Cummins which is a publishing platform for invited artists to consider various themes. She is based in Dublin.
