'My talent comes directly from my mother, Kathleen who was an exceptionally fine dressmaker, making all my clothes as a child. I was always eager to help her, and she recognised my artistic ability and aptitude which she tenderly nurtured and encouraged. I was always drawing and painting and making all sorts of things as a child and I made my first dress at the age of 9'.
I am a visual artist who engages in sculptural work which draws influence from a background in Couture and making things. By utilizing materials such as metal and wood, my work often engages in geometrical and architectural compositions. Balance is an important aspect, and can dictate the composition and form of the work. I have also used clay and porcelain to compose a three dimensional visualization of the sense of loss, The Presence of Absence. The choice of material is important in realizing my vision of a piece of work. Currently I am exploring the mediums of Printmaking to create work at Graphic Studio Dublin.
