Title: An Ghealach ag Mealladh na Taoide
Size: 20 x 29 cm
Medium: Woodcut and Chine Colle
On viewing the exquisite collection of prints, paintings and
illuminations pertaining to the subject of gardens in the Chester Beatty
Library, I noticed how often water is featured. It is usually worked in
black and silver. The title of my print comes from a poem in Irish by
Gabriel Fitzmaurice and refers to the "coaxing" effect that the moon has
on tidal waters. The moon symbols are printed using black and silver.
