Title: Bells of Ireland, Seeds and Lilies
Image size: 50 x 41 cm
Medium: Etching
I chose to focus on the forms and colour of particular flowers and
seeds. These lilies and Bells of Ireland proved to be contrasting and
drawable elements. The two lilies are distinct forms in space; their
depth defined by strength of colour. The Bells of Ireland suggest
infinity running through the picture plane, evocative of a DNA helix.
I love the seeds of the Bells of Ireland for their elegant form; that
of a convex tetrahedron. The combination of these elements express a
continuity in time punctuated by the lilies which are at the most
perfect point of their existence.
